DUI is a terrible thing. It leads to lost lives, both literally and figuratively. A young nursing student was killed in a DUI accident in Marietta. Now, the responsible driver is losing her freedom. The AJC has more on the story.
A Cobb County grand jury has ruled the driver in that case guilty of vehicular homicide and various moving violations. The crash happened last February. The driver ran a light at South Cobb Drive and King Springs Road and hit a car that was turning.
When officers questioned the driver, she admitted to taking four prescription pills about 45 minutes before the crash. She also had trouble keeping her balance. This isn’t the first time she’s been arrested for DUI either. She had a previous charge in 2000.
The driver also had no insurance at the time of the crash. We hope that the family of the slain student was able to get compensation for final expenses. They certainly deserve it after what this irresponsible driver did. They will have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives.
