When you have been injured or your property has been damaged by another person’s negligence, you are often entitled to damages. Sometimes, however, locating the person who caused the damage can be difficult.
In Atlanta, Georgia, over the holiday weekend, a woman dressed in a costume from the movie Beetlejuice crashed into a parked Mercedes vehicle. Surveillance video shows that the woman exited her vehicle, which nearly flipped during the collision, checked her vehicle for damage, and was assisted by two other costumed males. The two males helped her push her car off of the Mercedes. The driver then drove off without contacting police.
The owner of the Mercedes came forward, stating that she feared the car was totaled and blamed the driver for the hit-and-run and not stopping. A neighbor captured an image of the license plate for the driver who took off and turned it over to police.
A few days later, the driver Jonna Capehart, turned herself in. Atlanta Police report that Capehart was cited for failure to maintain lane and and duty upon striking an unattended vehicle.
