The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) found that Enercon Services, a Georgia-based engineering firm, violated the Whistleblower Protection Act when it fired an engineer in retaliation for reporting unsafe practices at its Wolf Creek plant in Burlington. The firm has appealed the decision and is welcoming an opportunity for a full hearing into the incident.
OSHA maintains that workers and contractors have an obligation to report unsafe conditions and are protected by the law from adverse actions from doing so.
