It is always tragic when a life is lost due to an auto accident. Even more tragic is when that same accident leaves a child fighting for their life as well. One family in Duchess County New York spent the holidays asking for prayers.
On December 5th, 2015, Edward Allen lost his life just a few miles from Millbrook School where he was the Athletic Director. That day, Allen’s SUV collided head-on with a truck carrying gravel. Sadly, Allen died at the scene.
Allen’s two daughters, Codie and Tatum were also in the vehicle. They were both airlifted to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla. Tatum suffered life-threatening injuries, but Codie is expected to be fine.
The family asked publicly for prayers for their daughter and for the loss of the family’s patriarch. Relatives have also started a fund raising page at the YouCaring.com website. The fund raiser is intended to help defray hospital and long-term care costs for Codie, Tatum, and Allen’s wife, Emily.
The following message was posted onto the YouCaring website by the family:
“While no amount of money will ever ease the pain and loss the Egan and Allen families are going through, every contribution is a show of love and support that will remind them that they are not alone. Please continue to keep the family in your thoughts and prayers as our tough little Tatum continues to fight for her life.”
