Although a recent law was passed banning the newest version of synthetic marijuana from being sold in Georgia, manufacturers have found a way around it.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation officers were notified of the drug being sold in convenience stores. Unfortunately, the drug is legal due to a new chemical addition which changes the composition.
It is believed that the drug is not being manufactured in the state, making it difficult for Georgia lawmakers to go after the source.
According to the Oconee Drug Task Force, a lot of the chemicals popping up in the changed substance have never been tested before by crime lab analysts. Everyone is urged to stay away from the man-made drug, as it can be fatal. The Poison Center reported that synthetic marijuana symptoms can include altered mental status, lethargy, seizures, and psychosis.
If this drug continues to be sold, we could possibly see a rise in personal injuries as a result of the man-made drug.
