Acetaminophen is very common in various over-the-counter cold and flu medications, including Tylenol. The maximum dose allowed has been recommended to be lowered from 1,000 mg to 650 mg per dose.
Although the FDA is not required to adhere to the recommendation of the panel, however, they usually take the warning seriously. Thus, they later issue black box label warnings or dear doctor letters to physicians stating the health concerns.
