Alleged Hit-And-Run Driver Makes Appearance In Court

The motorist who’s accused of hitting and critically injuring a construction worker Friday morning made his first court appearance in Cobb County Saturday.

According to Woodstock police, the driver, Kenneth Gonzalez, was drunk when his truck ran into the construction zone injuring Joseph Goodwin.  The motorist then fled the scene and was later arrested in Cobb County.

Paulette Rush, an inspector for the Georgia Department of Transportation, was one of the first people to help Goodwin on the scene after Gonzalez allegedly hit the victim and sped away.

Rush stated that she is reminded of the dangers her job poses and that highway workers have far too many close calls with drivers.
